Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Bhuj & Village Weaving Introduction
  • Arrive in Bhuj (from Ahmedabad or Kandla) and transfer to your boutique heritage hotel in Bhujodi, a weavers’ village.
  • Enjoy a group welcome dinner and trip orientation hosted by local and foreign art guides, introducing the week ahead.

Highlights:

  • Premium accommodation in rural heritage guesthouses
  • First look into handloom traditions around Bhujodi
Day 2: Craft Museum & Block-Printing Studio Visit
  • Breakfast at the hotel, then visit the Kutch Craft Museum in Bhuj to learn historical context and view rare regional textiles.
  • Enjoy lunch together, followed by a trip to a block-printing studio to watch master artisans at work using Ajrakh techniques.

Day 3: Community Embroidery Workshop & Textile Collection Tour
  • Following breakfast, participate in a hands-on embroidery workshop with local women artisans.
  • Lunch in an artisan community, then visit a private heritage textile collection.
  • End the day with a family-style dinner at an artisan’s home.

  • Deep dive into Rabari, Ahir, Muthwa, or Meghwal embroidery
  • Insight into private handloom collections and conversation with custodians
Day 4: Spinning Kala Cotton & Indigo Dyeing
  • After breakfast, visit master weavers at home to spin kala cotton using traditional charkhas (spinning wheels).
  • Mid-morning session on indigo extraction and dyeing.
  • Workshop in a Bandhani dye studio managed by Abdullah Khatri.
  • Conclude with a memorable group dinner in Bhuj.

Day 5: Weaving Demonstration & Optional Shepherd Walk
  • After breakfast, optional guided walk with Rabari shepherds near Bhujodi.

  • Group lunch and evening dinner at the hotel.

Day 6: Copper Bell Workshop & Rann Desert Visit
  • Post-breakfast, visit Janmamad Luhar’s copper bell studio in Zura.
  • Enjoy a home-cooked lunch with the craftsman’s family.
  • Afternoon excursion to the Great Rann of Kutch desert, where guests can walk on salt flats, observe changing light, and reflect on the landscape.
  • Final group circle and farewell dinner at your hotel.

Day 7: Departure from Bhuj
